Holiday Favorite Foods- Italian Style!

Monday, December 16, 2019

The holiday season is back again, and we are celebrating Italian-style!  Everyone has their own holiday traditions, and the Italians are no exception. We did our research and compiled a list of our favorite Italian traditional holiday foods. Whether you’re looking for the perfect treat for after a night out at Squisito or want to give it a go yourself at home, this is an awesome list to go to if you’re looking to celebrate the holidays like a true Italian.

Antipasti (Appetizers)

  • Octopus salad: A classic Xmas eve treat, this is a light cold salad starring octopus and light, fresh ingredients like lemon, parsley, and a delicious virgin olive oil.

Primi Piatti (First Course)

Spaghetti alle vongole (spaghetti with clams): is an amazing dish enjoyed all year round, but is the perfect complement to the feast of the seven fishes. Easy to make, this is sure to be a hit with your guests.

Secondi (Main dishes)

Seafood stew: You can’t celebrate the feast of the seven fishes without a hearty seafood stew. There are so many recipes out there you could search through google for hours, but our favorites include plump shrimp, mussels, and octopus for the perfect shellfish blend!

Dolci (Desserts)

Classic Italian Panettone: This bread is traditionally served every Christmas and often warmed up for the ultimate sweet tooth satisfaction. A panettone literally means “big loaf” and is a large dome shaped cake with a light texture, filled with dried fruits and coated with butter. Try making one for yourself or picking one up at your local Italian market, you won’t be disappointed!

The holidays are some of our favorite times at Squisito and every year we offer bonus bucks on gift card purchases, cyber Monday deals, and decorate our stores for a festive vibe. Bring the family in to Squisito and enjoy a delicious bowl of pasta or create your own version of the feast of the seven fishes with our seafood courses! See you and the family at Squisito soon! Happy holidays and a very healthy happy new year to you and yours from the Squisito family!
